Tweety Pie

Twitter is different to Facebook.  I use Facebook for people I know, and I don’t add people I don’t know as my profile has personal things on it.  Facebook friends can see what I get up to all day every day, where I go, what I am doing and who I am doing it with (as boring as that may seem).  I mainly use it for catching up with friends I haven’t spoken to in a while and for the photographs.  As much as everyone moans about Facebook and all the changes that are being made (really, are you THAT BOTHERED?) It’s the best tool I can think of for storing photographs online in a way your friends can view and interact with them.

Twitter is different.  Back when I first got Twitter, none of my friends had it.  I was alone in the big expanse of Twitter, floundering around, attempting to write witty tweets but not really having anyone there to read them.  I had Twitter for about a year before I really started getting followers and having conversations with people (I credit the start of my love affair with twitter to @colonel_doctor and @manpoodle, they are the ones that really started talking to me on there and encouraging me).   I find it strange that I have probably around 600 – 630 random people I don’t know, have never met and more than likely never will, following me and reading what I say.  I treat Twitter like an online diary.  If I think of something funny or have an opinion on something, one of the first things I think is “I should tweet that”.  If I tweet without prompt 50 times in 1 day, no one would take any notice (unless it was all in the space of an hour, that would be annoying).  If I did 50 Facebook status’ in 1 day, i’d be labelled a total annoying nutjob maniac (and probably have no friends left).

I talk to some of my followers every day, and there are so many different interactions going on.  There are people I know on Twitter that attend ‘tweet-ups’, where people on twitter all meet up in a certain place and have a drink together.  I know people that have formed relationships with people they have met on Twitter, romantic or just platonic.  I know people that have twitter crushes (crushes on people they talk to on Twitter, yet have never met).  I know people that make money from Twitter, and people that are genuinely upset when someone they like ‘unfollows’ them.  All of this stems from a person deciding one day to create a twitter account, and then post something interesting.  That one human action can result in all this, and I think that is pretty amazing.

I like talking to random people.  My friends think it’s a bit strange and take the mick out of me for it, but I like it (they have been known to refer to me as Tweety Pie in the past).  I don’t hand out my personal details, I don’t volunteer information about myself that could make me vulnerable.  My real name and location isn’t even on Twitter, so if you typed my name into Google it wouldn’t link to my Twitter account.  Some of my followers are in other countries, and some (one in particular) lives 5 doors away from me.  Some are similar to me, some are very different – I think that makes it all really interesting.

This blog, although not very successful right now, would not be anywhere near as viewed if it wasn’t for Twitter.  I feel comfortable with my followers reading this blog – it’s no different to reading my tweets.  I am more comfortable with expressing the real me in front of loads of strangers, as I don’t care if they judge me.  Facebook is different, i’m not sure if I want the people I talk to and see regularly to read it all.  My close friends and family are different, that’s fine, but random people I went to school with or people I see in the pub?  As much as they are people I know, they are too close to comfort to say whatever I want, but also too distant for me to be comfortable with them reading my thoughts.

I know i’m rambling now, so i’ll wrap this up.  This blog post is just a thanks to all my Twitter followers for entertaining me, making me laugh and stopping me from self harming when I am stuck in the house bored.  I genuinely do not know what I would have done without Twitter when I got snowed in on a Saturday night last winter and couldn’t join my friends on our weekly pilgrimage to Faces.  I was devo’d.

700 followers and counting eh?  I’ll drink to that J

BOO: The life of the world's cutest dog!

This dog is insane.

There is a dog out there, wandering around the US who is so CUTE it actually makes me want to vomit.  Meet Boo, America's most famous dog.

Internet sensation: Boo is a five-year old Pomeranian that has amassed 1.8m fans on Facebook
Schleepy Boo <3
Kim Kardashian has blogged about him and Ke$ha has said he's her new boyfriend (he'd better get tested for something then).

Some of the pictures have had me in absolute hysterics, and he is now a big hit in my office.  Apparantly pre fame, his hair was so matted they couldn't run a brush through it, so he got shaved - the cutest was born.  Check these pictures out:

Charitable: Boo promotes the We Day movement, an initiative for children
Charity Boo

Shy guy: Despite Boo's popularity, his owner has chosen to stay anonymous and uses the pseudonym J.H Lee
Drawer Boo

Boo's unique look was a happy accident - his long hair was so tangled, the groomers had to shave it all off
Monkey Boo

Suited and booted: Boo is looking smart
Prom Boo

Boo
ROYALTY BOO

Give us a smile: Boo wearing an Operation Smile hat
I can't even explain this one
Boo has a BOOK out - you can basically look at loads of pictures of him walking around, living his life and having epic fun - If you like him on Facebook (along with 1.79million other fans) you can even watch a video of him having a birthday party.

This is Friday happiness at it's BEST.  Boo, I <3 you.

*UPDATE*  Ok this just gets even more mental - there is a website, dedicated to Boo that is NOT SET UP BY HIS OWNER.  You can look at pictures, read all about Boo, take the quiz and buy his Boo-k.

You have to look at this:  BOOOOOOOOOO

Kitteh oh arrrr

I'm sorry for this, but as it's Friday I am now going to innundate you with CUTE.

First off, pirate cats - I love the fact that most of these cats look more pissed off then I do on a Monday morning!

Aarrrgghhh! The kittens have managed to change their meows to 'aarrggghhs' in their attempt to become pirates
Kitteh Jack Sparrow?

Three legged puss: This pirate cat was left with a wooden leg after fighting enemies at sea... well, perhaps more of a loo roll leg than a wooden one
It must have taken a decent amount of effort to get that toilet roll holder over his leg :(

That's one big claw! This kitten was snapped sporting a hook for a paw, which is sure to cause a lot more damage that his usual claw
Cutest cat ever?

Do you like my hat? These sly cats show off their pirate accessories as they pose for the camera
Loving el natural beard

Careful, you might end up being lunch! A parrot sits on this pirates tail, but could soon become a meal for the kitty
These cats could not be more annoyed if they tried

It's Friday Friday Friiiiiday!

Morning everyone!

I went to the Square Meal Venues and Events show yesterday for work, and it was actually really good.  I went with 2 other PA's I work with, and we went to get inspiration and ideas for where we are going to have our Christmas party.  It's really useful to go to as there are LOTS of venues with stands that can tell you about all the things they have to offer.  There are also seminars to go to about arranging Christmas parties, and we also went to the Champagne tasting session - not exactly crucial for my job, but we thought we might as well go and have a few cheeky glasses :)

Looking forward to this weekend, out tomorrow night for a friends birthday where there should be lots of alcohol flowing and hopefully lots of stories to tell on Monday!  Only one day to get through and then it's OFFICIALLY the weekend, come on guys we can do it!

Have a good one x

Autumn/Winter 2011

One of my favourite things in the world is to pour over the Fashion section of the Telegraph’s website on a daily basis.  I even love the little ‘fashion’ tagline at the top (it looks like a women’s arm wearing a sheer dress with black polka dots all over it – it’s the simple things that make me smile), so was very excited to see their article regarding the new seasons trends from A-Z.  Here are my picks of the best:

C is for... Chelsea Boots – I adore Chelsea boots – I’ll be wearing mine with tights, rolled down socks, frilly skirts and massive chunky knits ALL THROUGH WINTER.  Can’t wait to purchase a pair of these bad boys on payday

G is for.... Grunge – As always, winter rolls round and the winter staple colours (dark velvet greens, greys, browns and the fashion standard black) all roll out and all of a sudden fashion gets a lot... classier?  Love the grunge look anyway, mix these colours with big knits, chunky boots and LOTS of kohl eyeliner J

Q is for... Quilting – Yes that’s right, you can yank last seasons Barbour jacket out the back of the wardrobe, quilting is back.  There’s something very early 90’s school girl about quilting (I had an ACE quilted semi puffa jacket that I used to ADORE) but I think dressed in the right way it can also be flattering and very stylish.  Just don’t team it with knee high white socks and a grey school skirt and you’ll be onto a winner..

U is for... Ugg – None of the standard Ugg’s you’re thinking off, Ugg have smartened up and released a luxury collection and some of the handbags are amazing!

Update from I PROMISE I am not a stalker

I've just had a thought;  I totally need to change my Twitter name.  I can't stand around street corners in London shouting "I AM QUEEN MORSH" at random startled celebrities - it makes me look bat shit crazy.

Suggestions welcome :)

I PROMISE I'm not a stalker

Before I start this post, I would like you all to know that I am dedicating it to my friend Charlie.  She gave me the courage and instilled a sense of panic in me that meant if she was not with me at lunch today, the below story would not have been possible.  She also bought me a Chicken salad baguette from Greggs for lunch because i’m skint, so thanks for that bab J

So, this week is London Fashion Week and obviously there are a few celebrities knocking about London at the moment.

I’m really busy at work but I had to go and meet Charlie in Covent Garden briefly at lunch time.  There was a big show going on at the Royal Opera House, and as we walked past we saw Millie from Made In Chelsea (although she can only loosely be referred to as a celebrity) and then Matt Baker from The One Show outside the Savoy.  Matt was standing in our way and apologised, so we laughed and walked round him – only THEN did we realise he was actually being filmed walking down the road with a HUGE backpack (????) and we were standing directly in the way of the cameras.  If I’m on The One Show getting in the way of Matt Baker, I am literally going to die.  I normally see famous people around where I work anyway, but 2 within 10 minutes of each other was a bit random.  I had no idea THE BEST WAS YET TO COME.

Therefore, the UCSOTD (Ultimate Celebrity Spot Of The Day) has to be Rick Edwards, the ex T4 Presenter.  I don’t even really know how it started, but basically we follow each other on Twitter and we talk quite a bit.  He’s one of these celebrities who is nice and normal and doesn’t think he’s too good to reply to you, therefore you can have a normal human conversation.  He is also very funny. (n.b. he hasn’t paid me to write this, honest).  Anyway, I was walking down the road just about to drop my friend Charlie back at her office, and I see Rick standing in front of me.  This is how the conversation went...

(N) – Me     (C) – Charlie    (R) – Rick

N – “Oh my EFFING GOD that is Rick Edwards walking towards us!!!!!!!”

C – “What?  Where?  Oh my god, oh my god” *grabs my arm* “YOU HAVE TO TALK TO HIM YOU HAVE TO TALK TO HIM!!!!!!”

N – “What, what can I say?  I’ll sound like an idiot”

C – I don’t know but you’ll regret it FOREVER if you don’t talk to him!  If you don’t say something I will!!!!”

N – “Go on then” *turns away and doesn’t know whether to run, hide or jump on him* (obviously I didn’t indulge in any of these options)

C - *bottles it* argh I don’t know what to say!!!!  QUICK!”

N – “RICK!  RICK!!!”

R - *turns around* “HI” *smiles* *waves*

N – “Hiya, sorry, can I have a picture taken with you please?”

R – “Oh, i’m sorry I’m really late....”

(Charlie doesn’t give him a chance to finish)

C – “She’s Morsh, Queen Morsh off Twitter!!!”

R – “What?”

N – “I AM QUEEN MORSH” *seas part, clouds disperse, children scream, old ladies hide, birds fall out of the sky*

R - *thinks about it for a second, then a look of realisation spreads across his face*

Bless him, he then came back across the road and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek – we had our picture taken, and then me BEING THE TOTAL IDIOT PLEBBY DOUCHEBAG THAT I AM thanked him, apologised for holding him up and actually said “i’ll tweet you later!” – It was meant to be a joke but it just came out with me sounding like a weird stalkery nobhead.  Bless Rick though, he was lovely and polite and chatty, and then said “Yeah of course, bye, nice to meet you”, waved and walked away.  Then he tweeted me saying “that was exciting” which again just shows how down to earth he is - I am chuffed I got to meet him though, it’s nice meeting famous people and realising they are just normal.

FYI Girls he is extremely hot in real life, and his height just makes him better (in my book anyway, and my book is THE RULE BOOK so take note).

Check this out! J

Where for art thou Romeo...

I wasn’t going to blog today as I didn’t think I had anything to talk about, but now I do, I TOTALLY DO.

I was just sitting upstairs binding some documents and minding my own business when I thought to myself “why don’t men smell nice anymore?” – An old guy who works in the post room called Bruce walked past me and I smelt his aftershave (which for an old bloke was actually really nice)  and realised I can’t remember the last time I walked past a man and thought “mmm you smell nice”.  Pondering on this while I shut my finger in the binding machine led to a lot of swearing and the realisation that the last 9 months of me being single has totally proved that romance is officially DEAD.

I can’t remember the last time a man did something nice for me.  The only example I have seen of a man treating ANYONE well within the last year was actually my friends boyfriend sending her some flowers at work today, because this time 3 years ago was when they first met – IT’S NOT EVEN THEIR ANNIVERSARY, it’s when they first met.  How does he even remember that?  This post was reserved for moaning, but this little paragraph is dedicated to Chris and the fact he singlehandedly has given me the smallest bit of hope that there are stupidly romantic and soppy men out there, I just need to buy a net and actually harass one until they marry me when I find him.  (Don’t worry Faye, Chris is all yours).

I can’t remember the last time I saw a boy really dress up nice and make an effort, wearing nice aftershave and clothes etc.  Now when we go out, boys are wearing trainers and polo shirts and drinking shots and sneering at everyone – this could be something to do with the fact I live in Essex, and all the boys there think they are the next best thing to David Beckham, but I suspect that boys just aren’t bought up like they used to be.  My granddad is a Gentleman, there is no other way to describe it.  He holds doors open for everyone and is nice and polite and sweet, and I am pretty sure he has been that way since he was young.  Now days you’re lucky if a boy says sorry if he stamps on your foot.

Prime example, there is a boy that I text on and off.  I say on and off because 9 times out of 10 he only texts me after a night out when he wants to come and ‘meet me somewhere’ for obvious reasons.  Now he doesn’t have to send me flowers every day, but what happened to the days when a boy wanted to get in your pants so he’d take you out for dinner?  You don’t even get that anymore, you just get a text asking if you are up for it (which I can categorically say 99% of the time I am not – that 1% only makes me human).

Where are all the romantic, nice boys?  The boys that make the effort to look and smell nice, and are nice to you when you see them – the ones that genuinely want to talk to you, and it’s not just because they want to sleep with you, it’s because they like talking to you.  Where are the boys that want to look after you, even if you are just their friends?

IF YOU KNOW OF ANY SEND THEM MY WAY.  I’ve just ordered a stun gun off Amazon and i’m not afraid to use it.

More Twilight piss taking

Ok ok I am sorry, I know this is probably going to get really boring really quickly, but i'm still reading the 'Mark Reads' stuff, and this picture actually made me get up from my desk, go into the toilet and try to stifle the sound as I SCREAMED with laughter.

That was 20 minutes ago, and I am still on the brink of bursting at my desk.  This is one of the funniest things i've ever seen:

Mark Reads 'Twilight': Chapter 12 photo 11

Twilight: The Parody

I have made no secret of my love for all things Twilight.  I know it's aimed at 13 year old girls with braces and one leg shorter than the other, who spend their free time at home crying to the their parents that the fit jock (yes they are American) doesn't fancy them and they'll never get into the cheerleading team.  The whole story is based at the geek, the outsider, showing that the stranger you are the better your life will eventually end up.  To the point where YOU MIGHT EVEN END UP BEING A VAMPIRE.

I know all of this yet I still love it.  I love Edward Cullen more than anything else, DESPISE Bella but can still watch the films over and over again, and read the books 5 times (half way through my 5th read of Eclipse as we speak).

Regardless of all this, one of my twitter followers (thank you @jallford) sent me the following link.  A guy called Mark forced himself to read the books, and has given us a chapter by chapter account of what he makes of the story.  HE HATES IT but his comments are some of the funniest things i've ever read.

I can even overlook the fact he thinks Edward is the worst vampire ever.  Whether you like Twilight or not, get involved with this - I guarantee you'll love it.

Manic Monday

*Sigh* Monday again, the weekends go so quickly!

I had a lovely weekend, Friday night I was out with a friend and we went to a few bars near where I live – had a lovely time, and saw lots of people I hadn’t seen for a while which was nice!  Saturday I just chilled out and slowly got ready for my night out – I love having nothing to do during the day so I can take my time!  I’m sure any boys reading this would be disgusted, but I started getting ready around midday on Saturday, and left my house at 7.30pm – 7 and a half hours getting ready is quite good going J  I did take my time though, it wasn’t just me being vain!

The outfit I was wearing on Saturday was pretty plain so I wanted to do something nice with my nails.  I found a tutorial online on how to do leopard nails, (you can watch it here) and although I had an idea of how to do it before I watched it, it really helped!!  I love how clumsy and down to earth the blogger doing it is too – She made me laugh a LOT!   Here’s a picture of my nails after my first attempt:

Models Own Yas-Mint
Models Own Lilac Dream
Bourjois Liner Feutre Eyeliner in Noir

It was quite hard to do, especially on my right hand as i’m not that skilled at left handed nail art, and I also picked up an AWESOME tip.  The bit I found the hardest to do was the black around the edges.  I have the WAH Nails Nail Art pen, but I still didn’t think it was easy.  The blogger in this video said that she used black eyeliner instead of nail varnish, and it dawned on me that I have an eyeliner that is basically a black felt tip – the minute I had this revelation I tried it and it was so much better.  All you have to do is apply the eyeliner, wait for it to try completely and then cover the nail in a top coat to stop it from wearing off – then you’re good to go!

Anyway, so we went out on Saturday night, and I totally LOVED the outfit my friend wore.  She went for the clashing look and although it was nothing too drastic I think she looked lovely – I adored her top too, the whole outfit is a product of the new Westfield Stratford City shopping centre (it’s literally 15 minutes from ours houses) – can’t wait to attack that on payday!

Oh, before I forget I also tested the HD Brows compact from my Glossybox on Saturday – it’s good but i’m not sure if I have the right colours for my hair.  In my pallete I have white (obviously for highlighting the underneath of the brows), a lightish brown, a REALLY dark black and a beigey off white colour.  None of the light colours really covered my eyebrows well, obviously because they are black, but the black was too much – it made my eyebrows REALLY thick and look like they had been tattooed on.  In the end I used the black as eyeliner (as the product is made for your eyebrows it doesn’t smudge, therefore is brilliant as eyeliner as it doesn’t budge an INCH) and then just used the excess on the brush to fill in my brows.  Perhaps i’d just whacked too much on!  SO, as reviews go this isn’t amazing as I suspect I just didn’t use the product properly but if anyone is interested my tip is to use it as eyeliner.  It managed to survive drinking, dancing, sweating and planking (don’t ask!) and it lasted a good 12 hours plus – that’ll give you an indication of what time I got to sleep yesterday morning!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend too J

Glossybox!

My Glossybox arrived this morning, and I was pleasantly surprised!

After much excitement in the lift when the post guy told me it was waiting for me, I got to my desk slightly dubious about the box - I googled last night and noticed that a lot of people said they'd received HD Brows but it was smashed, so I was praying mine was still intact - and it was!

This is my first Glossybox so i'll do a nice description for you, here goes:

Presentation:
The Glossybox comes perfectly presented - I am sure the GB team know that all women love to receive beautifully wrapped surprise packages in the post, and for me this was part of the excitement.  It comes in a cardboard box, and then once inside it's in a beautiful, thick pink box with the GB logo on the top.  Inside, the products are wrapped in thick tissue paper with a little pink bow around it.  Underneath the bow, there is a card that on one side has a little message from Glossybox, and on the reverse has a description of all the items in the box and what you use them for.  Sounds all a bit 'stating the obvious' but some of the products I have never heard of, so it's useful for a description for what you actually do with them!  Once you've unwrapped the lovely thick paper, the products are all inside on a bed of lovely black crepe paper strips - it's really all very nice :)

Products:
I received some lovely products this week - Not ALL of them are tailored perfectly for me, but I expect everyone receives the same items in their box so they can't cater individually for everyone.  Here's a run down of the items:

Rahua Shampoo & Conditioner - 2 satchets of each
Both the shampoo and conditioner are suitable for coloured hair, so this instantly makes them perfect for me.  These 2 products appear to be sent directly from God for me, as they are suitable for coloured hair, and the shampoo 'cleanses to create healthy, bouncy hair' which is something I need as my hair can be so flat sometimes!  The conditioner is also perfect as it 'creates manageable softness without any build up' - I have to be careful with what conditioner I use on my hair, as I find some very hard to wash out and make my hair really clean, and I normally have to use a clarifying shampoo and conditioner.  Willing to give these ones a go though and see how I get on :)

Perfume Sample - Plum by Mary Greenwell
Even though this sample is quite small, the perfume smells lovely - unsurprisingly, it smells like plums!

Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm
I'm looking forward to using this balm - my skin can sometimes be quite dry, and this balm is used to leave skin feeling nourished, smooth and radiant - It also doesn't 'strip' your face when you use it, and best of all it's suitable for all skin types!

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse
This is basically a dry oil that they say is made up of '6 precious oils with 98% natural ingredients and no silicone' - You can use this oil on your hair, body or face so it's a good multi tasker - I'll be interested to see how much this grabs my hair and if it leaves it feeling greasy or unclean, as that's the impression I get from thinking about putting oil on my hair.  I bet this would be lovely to use on your face though :)

HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette in Foxy
This is the product I am most excited about.  Right from the off, this pallete to buy in shops is £19.95, so getting this Glossybox for £12.95 is worth it for this product alone, without the 4 other items thrown in.  The foxy pallette is suitable for people with brunette hair (HD Brows also do a pallete for blondes and a different one for people with dark hair), so I assume they sent this one as it's the most versatile.  It comes in a lovely compact with a nice big mirror, so it's lovely to take out with you and use while you are out.  HD Brows are also awesome because the product doesn't smudge once you have filled in your eyebrows, so you don't need to worry about nasty streaks down your face if you get a bit too over excited and forget you've put it on!

The other thing I love about Glossybox is that you get a discount code for every product they send you.  Basically if you try one of these products and you love it, not only have you had the opportunity to not committing to buying something you dno't know about, but you get it cheaper when you buy the full product too.

All in all I am seriously impressed with Glossybox, purely for the standard of boxes they sent out - Now i'm counting down the days till my October box!  Even if there are products in there you don't like, just save them up and use them as stocking fillers or additional presents for Christmas :)

I'll do a review of the actual products once i've used them, but I was far too excited this morning to blog all day without mentioning this lovely product :)
